Tullow Oil Commissions 1st Ghanaian flagged vessel, the MV Flat Confidence
Tullow Oil has commissioned the first Ghanaian-owned and Ghanaian flagged vessel, the MV Flat Confidence. The MV Flat Confidence was birthed out of Tullow’s marine sector adoption program. The vessel will support Tullow Ghana’s two Floating Production Storage Offloading (FPSO) units, Kwame Nkrumah and John Evans Atta Mills, and is now active in the Jubilee and TEN fields.
The Deputy Managing Director of Tullow Ghana, Cynthia Lumor, said, “As a responsible oil and gas company, we understand that promoting local content is central to the development of a nation, and we are passionate and deliberate about achieving this.”
Meanwhile, Cynthia Lumor, Tullow Ghana Deputy Managing Director, has been awarded Energy Personality of the Year at the Ghana Energy Awards while Tullow Ghana has received the “Special Award for Commitment to Localization of the Supply Chain” at the 2021 ABSA Global Business Day Supplier Development Awards.
“Over the past decade, Tullow Ghana Limited (TGL) has ensured that their supplier development initiatives remain relevant and are tailored to address the needs of suppliers in the upstream oil and gas sector. TGL has also worked with key contractors to award substantial subcontracts to indigenous Ghanaian companies for highly technical scopes of work – so they have an opportunity to develop their capabilities,” read the citation that accompanied the award.
