Suspended National Oil Corporation of Kenya CEO Reinstated
Suspended national oil chief executive and managing director Sumayya Hassan-Athmani has been reinstated according to deputy president William Ruto as an audit of the state agency continues.
The chief executive who had earlier been rested by the national oil board for dismal performance was replaced by general manager in charge of downstream operations, MaryJane Mwangi in acting capacity.
The pronouncement made during a campaign visit in Malindi for the ruling party candidate has been construed as a way to please the coastal and muslim community ahead of the by-election.
Sumayya Hassan-Athmani is currently serving her second and last term as head of the state run oil agency.
