Strathmore Extractives Industry Center to offer Executive Courses in Oil and Gas
Strathmore University’s Extractives Industry Center will next week offer a five day Executive Oil and Gas Course aimed at developing local capacity by enhancing the knowledge in the extractives industry so as to meet community, government and investor expectations.
The course that targets mid-level to senior level professionals operating in the extractives industry in private sector, government and civil society follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the between the Strathmore Extractives Industry Center (SEIC) and National Oil Corporation of Kenya (NOCK).
Among the areas of focus on providing an overview and understanding on oil and gas, oil and gas financing, understanding the policy, legal and regulatory framework in the industry as well as understanding taxation and its effects on the industry.
The course that will be offered by local and international academicians including from the University of Aberdeen will also offer a hands on experience on negotiating and drafting oil and gas contracts, explore the social, human and environmental risks involved and provide an understanding to risk management involved as well as the various ways of dispute resolution.
