President Kenyatta to visit Texas for energy related discussions
Kenya’s president is today expected to visit Texas in what statehouse spokesman Manoah Esipisu has termed as a knowledge sharing visit about oil and gas.
The president is also set to meet former immediate US president George W. Bush who is an experienced oil and gas investor having established Arbusto Energy, an oil and gas exploration company and has served as a director in several companies.
The visit is however focused at meeting a number of global energy companies which have headquarters in Texas including ExxonMobil, Phillips, Valero Energy, Conoco Philips among others.
President Kenyatta is also visiting the home to Marathon Oil a company who together with Africa Oil has discovered gas at the Sala-1 prospect.
“You’re aware that there was some major announcement by Africa oil; major because it’s the first time we’re discovering commercial gas in Wajir and the discovery is something we’re looking at very closely towards developing even cheaper power,” Esipisu told Capital FM.
Other than Marathon Oil, Camac Energy is another company exploring for oil and gas in Kenya.
On Monday OilNews reported that energy was going to be a top on the agenda for President Kenyatta as US-Africa summit kicks off in Washington.
