Perenco Rep says partnership with DRC government essential in oil & gas business

Oil and gas operator Perenco has maintained that a partnership with the DRC government is essential to achieve set growth targets.

Through its General Manager Reza Mered Perenco says that the implementation of a serene business climate and a solid and modern legal framework in respect to the commitments of the State, will guarantee stability that is needed for the oil and gas business.

Mered adds that the company is seeking the active support of the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and the Government to obtain the necessary authorizations to Angola where it seeks to conduct seismic acquisition.

“This campaign will enable us to identify new prospects, potentially leading to exploration drilling. This is an essential preliminary stage if we wish to increase our reserves and our production,” he says.

Speaking ahead of the upcoming iPAD DRC Oil & Gas Forum taking place in Kinshasa in September Mered has also encouraged more companies to venture into the central African state saying the country has a beautiful future.

Perenco has been operating in the Republic of Congo since 2001, when a joint venture with the SNPC was created in order to operate the Emeraude field and was producing 40 000 bopd at the end of 2013.
