China’s provider of high end oilfield services Petro-King has announced it is looking for local partners as it seeks to establish an office in East Africa.
The company that specializes in well drilling and completion showcased at the recent Oil and Gas Expo 2014 held in Nairobi earlier this month where it revealed its ambition to widen its business scope from Algeria, Sudan and Southern Sudan as the three countries it currently operates.
Petro-King which is headquartered in Shenzen through its head of marketing development department Simon Fang said it hopes to introduce its expertise in the region that is currently seeing a boom in exploration with spareparts for equipment as well as the skills still lacking.
Among areas it plans to engage in is drilling through deployment of various innovations including: Turbo drilling that reduces drilling time to just 25 percent the time spent in convectional drilling with the industry still at the exploration stage.
“We have already proved our drilling expertise especially in China at the Tishen 1 oilfield where we drilled 3850 metres in 6 days using the turbo-drilling technique as opposed to other methods that could have resulted in a drilling time of almost four weeks,” Fang told OilNews Kenya.
Petro-King services include well drilling, completion, stimulation, production, technical consultation, project management, surface equipment, and testing equipment.
Its main clients in Africa include the Algeria National Oil Company and CNPC in Sudan.
