ANGOLA: Fully Integrated Geological & Geophysical Study Supports Onshore Oil & Gas Exploration

In support of oil and gas exploration projects Onshore Angola, Trois Geoconsulting and DDMS, in association with Angola’s National Agency for Oil, Gas and Biofuels (ANGP), are pleased to offer a fully-integrated geological and geophysical study covering the onshore blocks available in the ongoing Angola 2020 Onshore Bid Round. Data available includes 2D seismic coverage of the Lower Congo Basin, a recently updated Geological Map and Database of the Onshore Kwanza Basin and a compilation of recent aeromagnetic data covering the Transition Zone and Shallow Waters of the Lower Congo and Kwanza Basins.

Onshore Kwanza Basin

The recently updated geological map is an enhancement on original work carried out by Total in the 80’s and more recent field work carried out by Sonangol in 2015. The latest study by DDMS in cooperation with Tectosat Ltd. integrates remote sensing techniques with outcrop sample data used for ground truthing, which has greatly improved the accuracy of the geological formation boundary locations and structural detail within the Onshore Kwanza Basin. The Enhanced and Fully Integrated Remote Sensing Geological Map (right) and ArcGIS Project, at 1:50,000 scale, is available across all blocks on offer in the Angola Onshore 2020 Bid Round. The Geological Database includes enhanced geological mapping, remote sensing data, digital petrographic samples, outcrop studies & paleontological information. Seismic and well data is also available covering the Onshore Kwanza Basin.

Lower Congo Basin

Approximately 1650km of 2D seismic data, acquired for Sonangol EP between 2007 and 2010 is available from GeoPartners, in association with Trois Geoconsulting and DDMS. The data provides a good understanding of the hydrocarbon potential of the Lower Congo Basin onshore.

The Angola 2020 Onshore Bid Round will officially open in January 2021 and bids must be submitted by March 10th 2021.
